Our Story

Two chefs behind the kitchen counter

Our origin story

What started as a shared dream between two childhood friends who shared a passion for great food is now a thriving bar and restaurant that is a celebration of their love for locally-sourced ingredients.

Jamie & Andrew

Kitchen

From the time he started working at McDonalds at 16 and while working at bars & restaurants throughout the city,  it has always been Andrew Schlanser’s professional dream to own his own restaurant.

He accomplished that feat In May 2020, with his wife Jamie as they signed a lease for the space at 235 West McMillan in Clifton Heights.

While signing a lease in the midst a global pandemic didn't seem ideal, they capitalized on the opportunity and spent that summer of 2020 cleaning, renovating and styling the space and had it ready to open In August of 2020.   Since then Andrew, Jamie, and Andrew’s brother Brian, have turned it into a top restaurant destination In Clifton Heights.

Serving a style of classic American comfort food,  with flavors for just about every one.  Good Plates has become known as a place that you and get a meatball sub and fries or a Brussels & Mushroom Quinoa Bowl.  Along with creating great food,  They also make sure they are giving back to the community around them. For the last four years they’ve offered thousands of free holiday meals, had many coat drives, and are always looking for new ways to engage with (and feed) their community.

Along with their twin 5 olds, Jamie and Andrew are hopeful to keep bringing good food and happy full bellies to Cincinnati for years to come.
